  The bridge at Pooley Bridge.
As of March 20th 2016 the new bridge is open to vehicles and pedestrians.

Pooley Bridge is located near Ullswater, Cumbria approx. 5 miles from Penrith.
A three arch bridge spans the river where the water from Ullswater runs out to form the River Eamont and then on down to the town of Eamont Bridge and beyond.

Just on the outskirts of the town, approaching from Penrith on the A592, you come across the
Ullswater Steamers pier.There are three boats operating during the summer months and usually one operating during the winter. The boats are Lady Dorothy, Lady of the lake and Raven.

When you come over the bridge and turn left, you are in the town centre. The brick column
is to mark the Millenium.

At the top of the column is a weather vane topped by a leaping salmon. The salmon is always looking into the wind.

The Crown Inn is a good place for a meal and
a pint there is also a beer garden at the back which runs down to the river.

On the other side of the main road stands
the Pooley Bridge Inn. Another good place
for a meal and a pint.

Just over the road from the Crown Inn is the Tourist information Office.

Just 50 metres up the road from the tourist info. office is the Sun Inn,
yet another good place for a meal and a pint.

Next to the Pooley Bridge Inn is the Treetops
Tea Room and souvenier shop.

The Barn Studio is a good place for a “mooch”
about. Plenty of souveniers to be had here.

Near the top of the high street is Saint Paul’s Church.
Just round the corner from the church is the village hall
where antique fairs are held nearly every weekend.
